Disturbing Video Shows Moment Law Enforcement Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
A senior officer who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer that got attacked by a knife attacker has been awarded the King's Commendation for Courage.
Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a blade to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.
"Officer attacked," the constable stated over his communication device.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera video shared by the force revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a knife outstretched.
He struck the officer who lost balance and dropped to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground despite being multiple times hit with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a open target, bringing the struggle to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide something on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the neck."
Sgt Ansell received multiple open wounds to his neck and more cuts to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.
Authorities stated Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his partner's blood loss before paramedics reached the scene.
The new award arrives subsequent to the trio of policemen won departmental Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the police federation award from the local Police Federation in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a Regional Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The efforts of the entire team ultimately rescued one another and ensured no civilians experienced any harm."
Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, per authorities.
