Jail logs in Essex, New Jersey, reveal that Brown was freed on Tuesday early for his move to the state of Florida. Brown, among the most famous athletes in the NFL, had forgone extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being arrested in the city of Dubai.
Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an email that he has already filed a documented innocent plea to the murder attempt charge. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday early for a bail session, Eiglarsh added.
According to his arrest warrant, Brown is charged of seizing a handgun from a security guard after a public figure boxing event in May and shooting two shots at a person he had fought with before. The claimed target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told authorities that one shot touched his neck.
Eiglarsh said that Brown was simply safeguarding himself from Nantambu.
“The actions he was compelled to take were exclusively in self-defense against the reported individual’s violent actions. Brown was targeted that time and responded within his rightful privilege to defend himself,” Eiglarsh commented.
Brown was not right away apprehended because at first police did not consider Nantambu as a affected party. It only later in May that Nantambu gave a detailed account about the incident to police and identified Brown as the gunman, the affidavit says.
According to his digital posts, Brown had been residing in the city of Dubai for multiple period. In a post after the confrontation, Brown stated he was safeguarding himself because he was “jumped by multiple persons who tried to rob my valuables and inflict physical injury to me.”
