The carrier to provide complimentary high-speed onboard wifi by way of satellite deal
Travelers aboard the airline can soon access high-speed internet during flights without charge following a major deal from Elon Musk's satellite provider.
Free and Quick Connectivity Available to Everyone
British Airways announced that this no-cost, “reliable and lightning-fast” wifi offering via the satellite provider is set to be offered for travelers in coach, business, or first class from the coming month.
Expanded Deployment Across Several Airlines
The umbrella organization of BA, IAG, stated it had finalized an agreement involving the satellite firm to offer wifi access on over 500 aircraft within the group's operators, which also include Aer Lingus, Iberia, plus the low-cost airline.
Uninterrupted Wifi from Boarding through Arrival
British Airways noted that the introduction of the system was part of a multi-billion pound “upgrade” plan and will provide smooth wifi coverage for travelers from boarding to arrival, even when in flight over large bodies of water or far-off locations.
Travelers may hook up several electronics and they will not require a separate login.
“Gamechanging for the airline and our customers, enhancing onboard service during flights our flights through providing them seamless internet throughout the flight.”
Present Internet Services
Basic connectivity service remains provided for BA passengers through nearly all of the airline's aircraft through its .air service.
Enrollees in the airline's reward scheme are able to transmit texts and plain-text emails onboard at no cost, whereas travelers looking to access audio, video, and films on their travel if not travelling in first class can expect to pay from four pounds ninety-nine and £21.99 for a wifi package.
